About KORizzo Inc.

KORizzo Inc. is a combination of two businesses and two passions: art and horses.

KORstudios relates to artwork created by Katherine O. Rizzo. Katherine now specializes in photography, however her art education had its starts in the classic mediums of oil and watercolor paintings. Through the years, Katherine has worked with a variety of mediums including oil, watercolor, pencil, ink, colored pencil, clay, wood and wire.

She graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Maryland with two Bachelors of Art degrees: one in studio art and one in biology, with a concentration in environmental studies. From Southern Maryland, Katherine traveled to Santa Cruz, California where she spent several months at UCSC in the Scientific Communications graduate program, a program that only invites 10 promising illustrators to attend each year. After completing the program, Katherine moved back to the East Coast to be an Artist in Resident at SMCM and then intern at the Natural Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

Katherine now works part time at The Equiery as the Editor-In-Chief, Production Manager and Art Director. There she combines her graphic design, illustration, photography and writing skills with her knowledge of the Maryland equestrian community.

Forward Motion Training, LLC is the formal name for Katherine’s longtime business of training riders and horses. Since becoming a camp instructor at Waredaca while in high school, Katherine has been teaching riders for over 20 years. She is currently a certified instructor through Certified Horsemanship Association (Level 4 English and Level 2 Western) as well as the US Eventing Association (Level 1-Training). Katherine also is a USEA/USEF certified course designer through the Training level in eventing and is working on her “r” course design license.

Katherine was the head coach of the Academy of Holy Cross Varsity Equestrian Team, as well as the riding program head for AHC for 11 years before retiring in 2014. While living in CA, Katherine was head coach of UC Santa Cruz’s Intercollegiate Dressage Team and assistant coach of the school’s IHSA hunter team. She is currently the Center Administrator for the Waredaca Pony Club Riding Center. Katherine also trains students outside of pony club.

Katherine’s riding background is varied with experience in eventing, show hunters, equitation, classical dressage, foxhunting, show jumpers and steeplechase. Through the years, Katherine has trained a variety of horses and ponies for clients in various disciplines as well as training sales horses for clients.

Currently, Forward Motion Training is based out of Hobson’s Choice in Woodbine. The facility is open to consignment horses and horses in training.
